Define your revenue-sharing policy

Use SplitLayer's policy editor to define your rules: what percentage goes to each partner, how platform fees are calculated, how discounts affect the base amount, and whether specific products or collections use different rates.

The policy DSL is human-readable. You can explain your policy to a partner and they'll understand it — no escrow jargon or complex formulas.

Simulate before you go live

Before activating a policy, use SplitLayer's simulation engine to dry-run it against your last 90 or 365 days of real Shopify orders. See exactly how much each partner would have earned, what your platform take would have been, and how it compares to your current setup.

This step is optional but strongly recommended whenever you're changing an existing policy — especially before renegotiating creator terms.

Orders flow in — splits process in real time

Once your policy is active, every new paid Shopify order automatically triggers SplitLayer's processing pipeline. The order amount is evaluated against the active policy, and ledger entries are created for each participant in under a second.

Your partners see their balance update in real time. Processing is idempotent — even if Shopify sends the same webhook twice, you'll never see duplicate entries.

Refunds are handled — no manual reconciliation

When a customer gets a refund on Shopify, SplitLayer receives the refunds/create webhook and automatically creates reversing ledger entries. Each partner's balance is corrected proportionally. No spreadsheet, no email thread, no manual adjustment needed.

When you're ready to pay your partners, open the Payouts screen, review the ledger balances for each partner, and initiate disbursements. SplitLayer tracks every payment status and retries automatically on failure.
